European Commission proposes to update the Batteries Directive

The European Commission proposes mandatory requirements for all batteries, including those used for e-bikes.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - As part of the Circular Economy Action Plan, the European Commission proposes to modernize EU legislation on batteries. Batteries placed on the EU market must be made sustainable, high-performance and safe throughout their life cycle. This means batteries that are produced with the least possible environmental impact, using materials obtained with full respect for human rights and social and ecological standards.
